A report released this week outlines ways to further reduce crime in the city of Santa Cruz.   A 14 member Public Safety Citizen Task Force delivered the new findings during the city council meeting yesterday.  The task force’s recommendations cover prevention, strategic enforcement, collaborative oversight and funding.  Among the 73 recommendations include hiring more police officers, stiffer penalties on repeat offenders, moving the county’s needle exchange program and finding affordable recreational opportunities for low-income youth.
