A 14-acre Prescribed Burn is currently being conducted in Henry Cowell Redwood State Park. The burn began around 10 a-m, and is expected to be quite visible for the next several hours, as firefighters reduce the vegetation near the Observation Deck (which is close to the graham hill road campground). The burn is designed to reduce the threat of catastrophic wild fires in the area, as well as maintain the rare Sandhills habitat in that area that relies on fire to maintain a healthy ecosystem.
