A sandbar that had been blocking the pajaro river mouth for the past couple of weeks was demolished on Wednesday. workers with the santa cruz county public works department destroyed the sandbar, to allow water to drain from the river and from Watsonville slough. Water has covered portions of beach and shell roads for the past couple of weeks, and flooding was expected to get worse with forecasted rain.
