The on-line company named “J2 Global, Inc.” has been ordered to pay over 1.2 million dollars. The judgment is because the internet company automatically renewed subscriptions (after a trial period), without notifying its customers it would be doing so….and that’s illegal….at least in California. The 1.2 million dollars includes $585,000 in restitution plus penalties and administrative costs. The company is required to notify, by email, all California consumers who are eligible for restitution.
