(11:20) Santa Cruz County – Santa Cruz County has received three grants for educational programs that are designed to reduce collisions. The California Office of Traffic Safety reported that Santa Cruz County has been ranked the worst for collisions with injuries or deaths caused by drunk drivers under the age of 21. The county also comes in a second for the most collisions with cyclists and problems with child safety. The grant is over $352,000 dollars and will pay for: bicycle and pedestrian safety-skills training for children and students in high school and college; child safety seat and checkup events; and DUI sentencing in schools presentations at high schools.
