The U.S. Coast Guard has called off a search for a National Guard Airman who was swept into the ocean near Big Sur yesterday. Officials say the 24-year-old man went missing off Garrapata State Beach around 9:30 a.m. Rescue boats and helicopters looked for the airman for seven hours before calling off the search.

 A coastal hazard advisory is currently in effect, warning visitors at beaches from Point Reyes to Big Sur of sneaker waves and rip currents. The advisory will remain in effect through tomorrow.
