No hemp for San Benito County 01-16-20 15:51 DC

KSBW Television reports that complaints about smell and security concerns led the San Benito County Board of Supervisors this week to extend its moratorium on hemp cultivation in the county.

Hemp farming has been legal since the end of 2018. It differs from cannabis because it has little or none of the chemical THC that makes people high.

San Benito County supervisors originally approved hemp cultivation in September 2019. In an about-face, the moratorium was approved late last year and can now extend a further 10-and-a-half months.
