A swearing in process took place last night during the Santa Cruz City Council meeting. New mayor Ryan Coonerty was sworn in along with two new members to the council, Hilary Bryant and David Terrazas along with Councilwoman Lynn Robinson, who was re-elected in November. Coonerty replaces outgoing mayor Mike Rotkin who was termed out along with Councilwoman Cynthia Mathews. Rotkin served 6 terms since 1979 and 5 years as mayor, while Mathews, who was first elected in 1992, served 4-terms and 3 years as mayor. The new leadership hopes to improve business conditions and public safety.
