An artificial habitat is scheduled to be launched onto Roberts Lake this weekend in Seaside. It’s designed to provide a nesting place for the only active breeding colony of the “near threatened” Heerman’s Gulls in the continental United States. The only other known active breeding colony of Heermans Gulls is on Isla Rasa, off of Baja California.
