The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office raided an opium poppy field near Moss Landing over the weekend. Authorities say that 27 thousand plants were eradicated from an acre plot on the 500 block of Dolan Road. More than 16 thousand harvested plants were also destroyed along with 13 pounds of raw opium capable of producing about a pound of heroin. The case is being forwarded to the Montery County District Attorney’s Office.
