Gov. Gavin Newsom said Thursday that he has signed an executive order providing two weeks of supplemental paid sick leave for all workers in the food industry who have been exposed to COVID-19.
The order applies to a variety of people in the food industry — farmworkers, fast food employees, grocery store workers and delivery drivers.
The governor said, “I heard a few grocery workers say this: ‘We’re called essential workers, but increasingly we feel like we’re disposable.’ And I want you to know you are not disposable,” Newsom said during his Thursday briefing.
