(18:14) MONTEREY- A decision by The California Public Utilities Commission has cleared the way for Monterey Peninsula water rate hikes. The commission approved a request by CalAm, the water provider to the area to raise rates by up to 26 dollars a month for the next five years. The company claims the rate hikes are needed to maintain water system infrastructure, and that revenues are down due to water conservation.
