Monterey Stays with Waste Authority 12-04-13 07:00 av

Monterey County has decided to rescind a notice to withdraw from the Salinas Valley Solid Waste Authority.  Yesterday’s unanimous vote comes after the county began threatening to withdraw from the authority last summer.  Supervisors also approved the authority’s plans to refinance over 30-million dollars in debt with conditions that any future rate increase would require approval by the Board’s area rep, and no money could be spent on experimental waste disposal technology.  The authority board is expected to meet later today to consider a resolution that agrees to the new conditions.
