The SPCA for Monterey County will host a free pet food bank event in Castroville this Saturday.
The shelter group will distribute free pet food between 10 and 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church, located 11140 Preston St. in, Castroville, but the distribution is open to pet owners in any city.
Anyone in need of pet food can have two weeks of food loaded into their vehicles on a first-come, first-served basis.
The SPCA also holds pet food drives every Wednesday and Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at its location on Highway 68. So far, the organization said it has handed out 55,000 pounds of pet food since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
