Monterey County supervisors yesterday approved sending a letter to the Public Utilities Commission requesting an opt-out option for Smart Meters. Yesterday’s request comes after supervisors reviewed a report from county health officials showing that electro magnetic frequency radiation emitted from Smart Meters, should be less than that experienced through routine mobile or cell phone use. The report supported contacting the PUC about the opt-out provision, along with continuing to study the long-term effects of radio frequency radiation.
