DUI arrests nearly tripled this year in Monterey County during the 4-day holiday weekend driving under the influence crackdown. 50-drunken driving suspects were arrested during the ‘avoid the 18 campaign’ over the July 4th weekend, compared to the 17 arrests made last year during the same weekend. An 18-day campaign starting August 20th and ending September 6th is next on the enforcement calendar.
