Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputies and SPCA investigators raided a cockfight in North Monterey County yesterday. Deputies raided the Maher Road residence in Royal Oaks around noon citing 7 people. 150 live fighting birds were seized along with 16-dead birds and cockfighting equipment. The live birds were brought to the SPCA for Monterey County animal shelter in Salinas.
