(19:25) WATSONVILLE– Watsonville Police and Fire Departments are warning businesses about a fire inspector impersonator. Authorities were alerted to the imposter after a restaurant owner reported an individual claiming to be an independent contractor inspected the business’s fire extinguishers. During the phony inspection the imposter stole two extinguishers, and tried to charge the establishment for the scam inspection. The suspect fled the scene in a late model BMW. He is described as Latino with hazel eyes and buck teeth. The Fire Department says inspectors always perform inspections in full uniform.
