A Carmel group is suing the Monterey County board of supervisors over the approval of the 2010 general plan. The group, the Carmel Valley Association says the plan, which was approved last month, will increase traffic congestion in Carmel Valley along with the rest of the county over the next 20 years. The association also claims the plan violates the California Environmental Quality Act. Meanwhile, Monterey County board members say the plan contains a growth plan for rural Monterey County by bringing in more businesses while also boosting the agriculture industry.
