(10:40) Santa Cruz – A man was arrested after he was caught with a short barreled assault rifle in Santa Cruz last Friday. Deputies reported that while they were on patrol they found a vehicle with expired registration. Inside the vehicle, deputies found Twenty-eight year old, Ben Lomond resident, Derek Estes in possession of an illegal assault rifle. Numerous syringes and other drug paraphernalia were also found inside the car. Estes was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail.
