Did you know that neon signs are illegal in downtown Hollister? One merchant recently almost found out the hard way when city inspectors said his new $700 custom-made neon sign had to go or he’d face a fine. The shop owner, Peter Hernandez, complained to the Hollister city council this week, which suspended enforcement of the neon ban while it is being considered. For now, the neon sign stays up.
The town’s mayor, Ignacio Velazquez, told a local tv station that he thinks the law is strange. The council will discuss the issue next month.
