A 44 year-old man has been charged with committing a hate crime in Santa Cruz. Federal prosecutors made that ruling because Ole Hougen, who has a history of committing “race crimes’, reportedly tried to slash a black man with a knife multiple times last month. When he was arrested, he reportedly told Santa Cruz Police officers that he only wanted a “white person” to help take him into custody.
At the time of this attack, Hougen was on probation for other “racially motivated” assaults on a different black man back in 2018.
