A former Hollister police officer was arrested for car theft in Gilroy on Sunday. Chad Browning called dispatchers from a car allegedly stolen from Fresno. Browning told dispatchers he wanted to fight police. He then attempted to drive on to a Gilroy schools football field. Gilroy police arrived at the scene and fired one shot at the vehicle when Browning attempted to run over an officer. Browning was taken into custody for car theft and methamphetamine possession.
