A man was taken into custody yesterday morning after a standoff occurred outside of a Gilroy home. Police responded to the 1,400 block of Ousely Drive where the suspect, 36-year old Huriel Escalante had brandished a gun to the residents living inside of the home. Police told the home’s occupants to leave, and secured the area as well as placing nearby schools on lockdown. Escalante fired several rounds before he surrendered peacefully. He was arrested and charged on 3 counts of attempted murder of a police officer.
