FOOD AND FARM NEWS – GRAPES 11/24/10 23:11 S.S.

The current chilly temperature will help the grapevines go dormant for the winter, putting a  good  end  to  a  tough  season  on  local winegrape  growers.  Many  growers,  especially  the  coastal ones,  experienced  damage  to their crops,   due  to  the varied  weather this past year.    With the local  harvest now over,  marketers  report  that although yields may be down as much as 20 percent,  they still expect the wine vintage from this year’s grapes to achieve high quality.
