(13:25) MONTEREY- The City of Monterey begins building new sidewalks today (Monday). Construction crews will install 230 feet of sidewalk from the corner of Alameda Street to the driveway of Whispering Pines Park. The project will include park entrance street lighting and ADA compliant curb ramps. New curbs and gutters will be installed on the west side of Pacific Street, from Soledad Drive to Via Esperanza. Detours and parking restrictions may be in place. Construction is expected to take approximately five weeks. Funding for the project comes from the Neighborhood Improvement Program (NIP).
