Astronomers announced a huge breakthrough yesterday after observing both the light and gravitational waves from a single cosmic event for the first time. A small team led by Assistant Professor of Astronomy and Astrophysics at UC Santa Cruz, Ryan Foley, was the first to find the source of the gravitational waves.)
