(16:47) SANTA CRUZ – A Santa Cruz county jury has found a soquel man guilty of murder. The jury determined that Eric Weers intentionally drove the wrong way onto Highway 17, and then on purpose drove his car into another one, killing the woman driving the other car. Because Weers pleaded guilty by reason of insanity, there will be a second “sanity” phase for his trial. That part is scheduled to begin tomorrow. IF it is determined that Weers was insane at the time of the crash, he will be sent a state mental institution.
