(16:02)SANTA CRUZ- The harbor entrance remains shoaled. Depths in the federal entrance channel are extremely shallow, and there is dangerous breaking surf in the entrance. Mariners are advised not to transit the entrance at this time. The most recent bathymetric survey indicates that controlling depth is 1′ MLLW in the federal entrance channel, and high surf is forecast for next week.
The dredge crew has been working diligently to address the shoaled condition, but work has been interrupted by unforeseen equipment breakdowns. We expect to resume dredging on Monday, January 4, 2016. Entrance conditions are changeable. Please call the Santa Cruz Harbor office for the latest conditions at (831) 475-6161.
