The California Department of Fish and Wildlife is proposing changes to the state’s commercial Dungeness crab fishery. The proposed changes are to provide protections for sea turtles and whales. The changes would require crab fishing to stop while higher concentrations of whales or sea turtles are present. The Department of Fish and Wildlife is accepting written public comments on the proposed regulations and will hold a virtual public hearing on June 29th.
