A 2-day prescribed burn is slated to take place today and tomorrow in the Gabilan Hills, east of Salinas. Crews plan to burn 2400 acres of brush and other fire fuels (on private property). Cal-Fire plans to use the operation to help train firefighters in fire suppression techniques in a control environment.
Smoke from the controlled burn is expect to be visible in the Santa Clara And Salinas Valleys, as well as in most of San Benito County.
