Authorities have made an arrest in connection with the 1986 murder of a santa cruz county girl.   49-year-old john William Kelley was taken into custody Wednesday, after detectives in san mateo county determined there was enough evidence to tie the convicted sex offender to the murder of 17-year-old Annette thur.    thur lived in ben lomond at the time of her death.  Authorities originally declared the death a cocaine overdose, however detective work and persistence by thur’s mother established a body of evidence that compelled detectives with the san mateo county sheriff’s department to reopen the case.  Thur’s body was found off of skyline boulevard in san mateo county.   Kelley was booked into san mateo county jail on murder, kidnapping, and rape charges.
