3 children are safe, after being reported kidnapped by a salinas man and his girlfriend. The suspect, Rene cruz is still wanted by authorities. His girlfriend and their 3 children showed up at the salinas police station this morning. the woman, nelida vega gaytan, was questioned by detectives and released. The children were placed with child protection services. Gaytan ran a child care program out of her salinas home (on the 7-hundred block of yucatan way). Cruz is under investigation for abuse of children under gaytan’s care. Rene cruz is believed to be driving a white GMC S-U-V, with California license plate number 5-c-t-v-2-1-7.
