The first phase of the state’s planned high-speed rail line will be extended in the Central Valley to Bakersfield. The California High-Speed Rail Authority board unanimously approved today to spend another 616-million dollars in federal funding on the extension. Planners of the rail system say the extra funding will now allow 123 miles of rail-line, from north of Fresno to Bakersfield, to be constructed.
