A Brookdale man sustained major injuries following a hit and run last night. Officials say the incident occurred shortly after 6 on Highway 9 at Clear Creek Road. 25-year-old William Detering was crossing the roadway when he was struck by a silver SUV or station wagon. The driver then fled the scene, continuing southbound on Highway 9. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Santa Cruz CHP Office.
