A local legislator has proposed a Bill that would extend the Fort Ord Re-Use Authority. Senator Bill Monning proposed SB-189, which would give F.O.R.A. 2 more years to complete a number of projects. The Sunset date for the agency is drawing near, and if the agency is disbanded before the projects are completed, the funding for them would also go away. Some of the projects include affordable and market-priced housing, preserving habitats, and a shopping center that would generate jobs. The State Senate is scheduled to hear SB-189 this Wednesday (April 10th).
