August 19, 2015: Man Arrested After Vehicle Pursuit Ends at KSBW

(14:58) SALINAS – A man was arrested yesterday after he led officers on a vehicle pursuit that ended outside KSBW in Salinas. The chase began when officers stopped 36-year-old Leo Castro for a probation search of his Ford Mustang at around 4:49 p.m. Castro fled police and a short pursuit ensued until officers lost sight of the car. Eventually, officers located Castro’s Mustang, which had collided with two cars and a pickup truck at the intersection of John and Front Streets. Castro was ejected from the vehicle and attempted to escape, but was unable due to his injuries. The drivers of the two cars sustained non-life threatening injuries and all four vehicles suffered major damage. Castro was taken to a local trauma center with unspecified injuries and the intersection was closed for several hours while the collision was investigated. Castro will be charged with several felonies, including Felony Evading Resulting in Injury, and Probation Violation.
