August 14, 2015: Health Advisories Posted at Santa Cruz County Beaches, Lagoons, Streams

(09:20) SANTA CRUZ COUNTY – Santa Cruz County health officials have posted advisories at a number of beaches, lagoons and streams. Most recently, elevated levels of E. coli have been detected at Cowell and Main Beach, as well as in the San Lorenzo River at the entrance to Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park. Officials have also detected a toxic algal bloom in Pinto Lake in Watsonville. Other areas have been permanently posted due to routinely high bacteria levels, including: Aptos Creek at Rio del Mar Beach, Porter Gulch Creek at New Brighton Beach, the mouth of Soquel Creek at Capitola Beach, Schwan Lagoon at Twin Lakes Beach, Neary Lagoon at Cowell Beach, and the mouth of the San Lorenzo River.
