Assembly Bill Aims to Protect Individuals Overcoming Drug and Alcohol Addiction- 2/27/15 8:00 S.G.

A local politician has introduced a bill that would aim to ensure the safety of individuals overcoming drug and alcohol addiction. The legislation, proposed by Assemblymember Mark Stone, would allow residential rehabilitation facilities to provide 24-hour medical services to their clients. Currently, licensed rehabilitation centers are not allowed to employ physicians who can provide on-site medical services. The facilities are required to send clients with medical needs to a doctor’s office or a hospital. Assembly Bill 848 seeks to help rehab programs provide treatments related to their clients’ addiction and recovery.
