May 14, 2015: HIV Vaccine Under Development At UCSC Could Enter Clinical Trials Within Two Years

(21:25) SANTA CRUZ – An HIV vaccine under development at UCSC could enter clinical trials within two years. On Wednesday the university released a statement about vaccine developments in Baskin Professor Phil Berman’s Biomolecular Engineering research lab. A recent grant of 2.6 million dollars is being used to reengineer a vaccine that proved 31% effective in trials in Thailand. Professor Berman has been researching HIV vaccines for close to 30 years.
