it’s been 23 years-in-the-making, but a ground-breaking ceremony was finally held (on the former fort ord friday) for the California central coast veterans cemetery. Realistically, congressman Sam Farr says we should be calling the site the “historic Fort Ord”……not the former Fort Ord….
In the first phase of the new veterans’ cemetery, the ashes of u.s. military veterans (and their spouses) will be placed in columbariums (that are being built on the site).
