A 28 year-old man has been arrested in connection with a springtime jewelry store robbery in Santa Cruz. Roman Petre is believed to be 1 of several people who went into a Pacific Avenue jewelry store and took nearly 80 thousand dollars worth of items, during what law enforcement officers have called a “distraction scam”. Petre, who had planned to travel out of the country on a one-way plane ticket, was detained at the airport a few days ago, and then transported back to Santa Cruz county jail. His bail was set at 1 million dollars.
