1 person died and 4 were reported missing near the Farallon Islands on Saturday. a 38-foot yacht ran aground off the islands 27 miles off the coast of San Francisco at 3 p.m. The yacht was racing in the Full Crew Farallons Race. 3-people were rescued from the wreckage, while coast guard search crews continued looking for the others. as of sunday, 4 remained missing. 46-year-old Belvedere resident Marc Kasanin died at the scene of the wreck. The accident was caused by high winds and heavy waves, which had caused other yachts to turn back.
