A residential fire in Watsonville displaced 14-people on Saturday. The blaze erupted in the kitchen of an add-on building at a house on Shady Oaks Drive. 1-woman was treated at a local hospital for smoke inhalation, however there were no other injuries. The flames were extinguished within 5 minutes, at about 9:15 a.m. The fire is estimated to have caused 20-thousand dollars worth of damage. Investigators are looking into what caused the blaze, but it is suspected to have started from an oven that had been left on. The unit is believed to have been built without proper permits. The Red Cross is helping the displaced residents find lodging.
