Santa Cruz city officials plan to unveil the winning artwork for the city’s annual Santa Cruz Recycles And Prevent Litter poster contest this afternoon. Students from Santa Cruz elementary and middle schools took part in the contest, and now 8 will be honored, by having their artwork enlarged and displayed on the city’s refuse and recycling trucks. 4 of the students who’s work was chosen were from Mission Hills Middle School, while the others were from Holy Cross Delaveaga, Westlake and Gault Elementary Schools. The winners will be named at a ceremony that is slated to run from 3:30 to 4:15 in Building E at the Santa Cruz City Corporation Yard, which is located at 1125 River Street.
The enlarged artwork will also be displayed on the city’s downtown “big-belly” solar compactor trash bins.
