An open-ended wildcat strike began yesterday at U.C.S.C. Graduate students say they want a raise of more than $1400.00 a monthly. Because the students’ actions are not authorized by U.A.W. Local 2865, university administrators say they cannot negotiate pay increases with students. That’s because those negotiations would be outside the union contract.
