The Watsonville City Council this week approved a new 150-unit residential development on the site of a former junkyard.
The development at 511 Ohlone Parkway includes single family, duplexes and row-style townhomes. Under law, 20 percent of the new housing must be for low-to-moderate income residents.
Some neighbors have protested, saying the development will create more traffic. The project will be built in four stages over four-to-six years. Developers estimate the cost to be $70-million-dollars.
