A woman died Tuesday morning in Capitola after a van rear-ended a Smart car. The vehicle, in which the dead woman was an occupant, was pushed by the impact through the intersection at 41st Avenue and Clares Street.
The woman’s identity has not been released as of this morning. The electric Smart car also slid into an on-duty bus occupied by eight passengers who, along with the bus driver, weren’t hurt in the accident.
Traffic was snarled in the area until almost 4 PM Tuesday.
