(UPDATED AT 20:00) July 10, 2015: Boulder Creek Teen Killed in Deputy-Involved Shooting

The teenager, who suffered fatal injuries in an officer-involved shooting in Boulder Creek Thursday night, had beaten his grandfather with a club, and killed a family kitten, before brandishing firearms at Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Deputies. The 6-foot tall, 220-pound 17 year-old came out of the Fern Avenue house (not far from Two Bar Road) with a shotgun and a rifle, and when ordered to drop the weapons, he pointed the rifle at deputies instead. That’s when deputies fired at him. The teen was air-lifted to a Bay Area trauma center, but he succumbed to his wounds while on the operating table there. The deputies involved have been placed on leave while the whole incident is investigated. (KSCO News)

(Updated at 12:53 P.M. – 07/10/15) – A Boulder Creek teenager was killed in a deputy-involved shooting Thursday night. Law enforcement officers were dispatched to a residence on Fern Flat Avenue around 10:30 p.m. following a report of a family fight. At the scene, deputies learned that a 17-year-old had beaten his grandfather and killed a family kitten. The suspect stayed inside the house while law enforcement attempted to negotiate with him. He emerged once with a club, before going back inside the residence to arm himself with a rifle. The teenager reportedly aimed the gun at deputies, prompting them to open fire. The suspect was airlifted to a regional trauma center where he was pronounced dead. The incident is under investigation. (S.G.)

(09:01) BOULDER CREEK – 07/10/15 – A Boulder Creek man was killed in a deputy-involved shooting Thursday night. Law enforcement officers were dispatched to a residence on Two-Bar Road around 10 p.m. following a report of a dispute. Upon arrival, deputies were confronted by a man with two firearms, prompting them to open fire. The suspect was transported to the hospital in critical condition. He was confirmed dead Friday morning. The incident is under investigation. (S.G.)
