A violent arrest caught on police body cams could lead to a lawsuit against the Salinas Police Department. This is a story we’ve been following after video was posted on YouTube.
27-year-old Jeff Mackay was arrested back in April after he ran a stop sign and then ran from police in his vehicle.
Mackay’s fiancé admits he was driving on a suspended license when police tried to stop him, but she says during his arrest, they went too far. His injuries, as well as the body cam footage, are her evidence of the rough treatment he received.
Salinas TV station KION has requested additional videos and details. The station reports video shows what appears to be a Salinas police officer kicking him even after Mackay is heard yelling he is not resisting.
